Roger and I want to simply say, “thank you”, for the gift that is The Healthy Brain and Body Show. We birthed this baby back in 2017 and we couldn’t have imagined all it would become until it hit toddlerhood. This year was the most INCREDIBLE year yet, and I cannot begin to count the number of deeply moving moments I spent with people throughout the weekend. I was in tears more than once, I hugged from the heart, I listened and loved on people, and I genuinely feel that it was one of the most powerful weekends of my life. I learned a lot–about myself and others–through the experience of birthing this idea into the world, and I am grateful for all of the lessons. The energy in the room was palpable and it’s all thanks to our amazing Exhibitors and Sponsors who support us and show up for us and bring their amazing energy and warmth so that our attendees also feel the love! The feedback we get most often is around the energy that’s created, and we couldn’t be more grateful to each and every person who contributed to the show in any way, from our suppliers and volunteers, to our amazing Sponsors, Exhibitors and of course, our attendees.
They say that when we are in gratitude, we cannot at the same time hold anger or hatred or any other emotion than the beautiful feeling that comes when we are truly, deeply grateful in the present moment.
It feels GOOD to be in gratitude, and if a gratitude practice isn’t something you’ve already started, I encourage you to start with one thing. Just one. And try to go deep on it. Like, if you are grateful for your kids or your spouse or your warm bed, write that down in a journal and go deeper on the reasons why you are so grateful. Leaning in to the ways we appreciate the things we have in our lives creates an energy that draws closer more things to be grateful for.
Speaking of gratitude, Mother’s Day is coming, and I want to say “Happy Mother’s Day!” to two of the women in my life who show up for me and teach me and guide me and love me despite my many, many imperfections and quirks. My own mother, Carol, who I share about regularly here, and to Roger’s mother, Sandra–who raised the most amazing man I have ever known–and is someone I love dearly. Thank you both for all you are in my life.
Last week, I shared about my own experience with mothering, and this past weekend at the show afforded me another chance to nurture others in a way that truly lights me up inside. It is my purpose and my passion and I am drawn to it like a moth to a flame. I am reminded that although I haven’t birthed my own children, I can still mother others. And I love it.
I love YOU, and I am so grateful to have you with me on this crazy journey called life. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you who are mothers. I hope you are celebrated in a way that lights you up this Sunday.
Because mothers lift up this world.
And because I want you to love your life one bite at a time.
