Ok, well maybe just TWO of those are what this post is about, but now that I have your attention, I wanted to share this interview I did with sleep expert Diane Dauphinais of Sound Of Sleep! We recorded this before coronavirus hit, so while we don’t speak specifically to ways to protect your sleep during a pandemic, her advice is still incredibly useful and she helps us create better “sleep hygiene” for ourselves no matter the life stage we are in.
We truly hope this information serves you as you work to improve your sleep and enjoy all of the health benefits that go along with it.
Speaking of health, I know so many of us are finding ourselves in the kitchen more often lately and so I wanted to share a recipe I make regularly for a deliciously healthy treat that will leave you feeling energized and happy, rather than drained and “blah”. Join me in my kitchen as I make this simple milkshake using dates & almond butter!
DATE & ALMOND BUTTER MILKSHAKE
Sarah Roberts
Serves 2-4
Why I Make This: I LOVE cold, creamy treats. But the heavy cream and refined sugar in traditional ice creams leaving me feeling bloated, gassy (sorry, TMI) and zapped of energy. This milkshake satisfies my sweet tooth and leaves me feeling energized. I hope you give it a try and enjoy it as much as I do! Note that you can make this a banana-free treat for those who are allergic or who don’t like the taste of banana.
INGREDIENTS
1.5 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
Pinch Himalayan salt
2 tablespoons raw cacao powder (or 1 tablespoon cocoa powder)
1/4 cup natural, roasted almond butter
3 or 4 Medjool dates, soaked in warm water about 5 minutes
1 frozen banana, optional (see note)
14 ice cubes
INSTRUCTIONS
Add all ingredients to the blender, blend well and enjoy!
Note: For a banana-free option, omit the banana and add another date.
It ends up tasting kind of like a cross between a malted milk candy (like a Whopper or Malteser) and a Ferrero Rocher (minus the hazelnut). Maybe it won’t taste that way for you, but I think you’ll agree that it’s DELICIOUS! And so easy. With only a few ingredients.
If you make it, I really hope you enjoy!
Because I want you to love your life one bite at a time.
P.S. If you are feeling disappointed that I wasn’t actually sharing about SEX in this post, I’ve GOT YOU! I did a whole episode on the topic with the always entertaining sex & relationship coach, MC Thauvette. You can watch the entire episode here!ย
