As a Health Coach, you know I’m passionate about helping people live well through the lifestyle choices they make. It’s not always easy to know what is and what isn’t right for us, with so much information–and misinformation–out there and I wanted to do a deep dive with my favorite Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Sarah Vadeboncoeur ND, to discuss the popular weight-loss drug, Ozempic, and to understand the pros and cons.
As you may have heard, Weight Watchers (WW) has now jumped into the prescription weight-loss business and shares in the company jumped 20% once the announcement was made. And since recording this interview, I’ve watched several videos of people who have not only suffered with the typical physical side effects of Ozempic (nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, etc…), but they share how their mental health has suffered, as well.
This is not to vilify a drug (semaglutide) that is certainly helping people manage diabetes and obesity–as we cover in the interview–but I always strive to keep my eyes wide open and I am reluctant to jump on any trend where our health is at stake and where research is limited.
I think Dr. Sarah does an excellent job of covering the topic and please know that we talk openly about weight, obesity, BMI, diet culture, prediabetes, diabetes, and everything in between, so if hearing numbers or talking about these topics is not supportive of your journey, please take care of yourself and sit this one out.
If you do give it a watch or listen, I’d love your feedback!
Because I want you to love your life one bite at a time.
